Our original building opened in 1984  and our current one in 2005: both were pre-fabricated and on land kindly loaned by Hanborough Manor School. This year our pre-school will be moving around the corner to a purpose built, permanent facility on its own land.

Completion of the project will give Hanborough Manor school more space to support children of school age in the village; at the same time we feel very lucky to be getting brand new, purpose built facilities! It's a really exciting time, but also a busy one - there's a huge amount to do...

A note from Team Move, and our ambitious fundraising target: £15,000 in 7 months

'Team move', in their Sunday best 'Team move', in their Sunday best

Why are we fundraising? Although the main costs of the new building have been covered, we have ambitions to provide the best possible facilities for our children. Much of the existing equipment is too old or damaged to withstand a move; our ambition is to equip the new playgroup with new furniture and equipment, not just for the current children, but for future generations who attend the setting.  The playgroup is a not-for-profit charity, so there are no reserve funds available to fund this outlay. To realise our ambition: now more than ever we need the support of the local community to help us provide top notch facilities and play equipment for the children of Long Hanborough. The aim is to furnish the setting with new:

  •  Tables, chairs, bookcases, storage and display boards
  • outdoor sensory equipment
  • outdoor play frame and sandpit
  • Soft pore flooring underneath and around the new outdoor play equipment will be needed (for safety reasons).
  • Artificial grass to surface the remainder of the outdoor space.

Below, you can find out more about the project. If you have questions we haven't answered, fundraising ideas, or would like to get involved, let us know!

Many thanks,

Q: When will the move happen?
A: Building is scheduled to commence April 2018, with a target completion date of October.
The timing of when the preschool relocates into the new building will be confirmed nearer the time, but is likely to be during the first holiday following completion and approva
l by Ofsted.

Q: I'd like to get involved; is it just money that is needed?
A: We're so pleased you asked! The move needs the so much more than money! The old building has potential value, but organising it's sale and removal is no small task... There is the physical move to be done....research to be done with arranging security, utilities...flat pack furniture to be assembled. The list is quite daunting and your help would be MASSIVELY appreciated. Please get in touch with us if you would like to get involved!

Q: I'd like to donate, how do I do this?
A: Please visit our dedicated page for secure online donations at We have applied for gift aid approval which is pending HRMC approval - this should be available around the end of March.

Q: Where will the new playgroup be located?
A: Just south of the Long Hanborough Pavilion cricket field  - see map here.

Q: What will the new building look like?
A: Please see the pictures below and hi-res plans  here, here, and here. There will be a small number of parking spaces (including 1 disabled), 3 childrens toilets, an adult/disable toilet, a seperate sleep/relaxation zone, kitchen, office and entrance hall/cloakroom.
